Butterfly Sculpture Drawing
I am an Amsterdam-based artist working primarily with wood, steel and bronze to create larger than life sculptures that connect everyday life with the natural world. My process starts with full scale charcoal drawings on paper.
This piece, enhanced with oil pastels, serves as the primary design for my bronze series of butterfly sculptures. By combining oil pastels on a kraft paper, I was able to create a vivid and detailed sketch-like image that captures the complexity of forms and scale for these fascinatingly strong yet vulnerable creatures.
